Loyalty rewards startup Spoonity, which seeks to offer easy and cost effective loyalty programs for restaurants in specific communities, has chosen NFC (near field communications) technology to power their solution -- and they are asking members to carry a keychain device which “checks-in” whenever they pay a bill at a participating restaurant.
The choice of a keychain NFC solution is a key one by Spoonity -- and also represents a major risk area for the business. As an up and coming technology, NFC is gaining adoption in many areas of business operations including inventory management and automaterd billing in delis’ and supermarkets. But as with any rewards platform -- does the keychain solution fit the requirement that members carry their rewards device at all times?
